Category: Kids Book Reviews
I love to read to my children, and I love to write book reviews on the books I read to my children! Consequently, we read a wide variety of books, from nature study guides to fun and whimsical picture books, to STEM books, and more. Reading aloud is an enormous part of our lives and education plan, especially for the early elementary years.
Book Review Process
I like to consider three aspects of a book when I’m reviewing it. First, the story. Is it enjoyable? Does it hold my childrens attention? Does it flow well as a read-aloud? Next, the illustrations. Are they beautiful or unique? Do they represent the story well? Do they set the story apart from others in the genre? Do they encourage observations from littles that may not be following along with the text? Lastly, the overall content and morals. Does this story have a specific lesson or moral? Is it valuable? Is this going to help my child grow and develop as a person? When I have answered all of those questions, I try to average them out in my mind and assign an overall rating.
