When goodness abounds…
Holy Lord of all the ages,
Let me to thy haven fly,
Let me rise to seek thee early,
Let my hunger never die.
Feed me with thy blessed gospel,
Let me plead Thee all my days.
Thou, who gave this sinner new life
Stay with me, now and always.
All throughout the pains of this life,
While the world around me groans,
Let me rest upon thy goodness,
Let me trust in thee alone.
When this day begins to darken,
When I feel the weight of care
When I’m at the end of myself
Precious Savior, keep me there.
Let me thank thee for thy bounty,
For the gifts in every day,
For the clothes, the food, the comforts,
For the sun along the way.
Thank thee, Father, for thy mercy
As I walk this vale of tears,
For the rocky roads, the trials,
For the days of rain and fears.
Thank the One who ruleth over
Every day that I am given
Light and shadow, joy and sorrow,
For my good, by Glory driven.
So I’ll sing to all who listen,
When the night begins to fall
That this life that I’ve been given
Abounds with the goodness of the Lord.
