Treading Water
I’m choosing to take pleasure in the little things this morning–like a clean kitchen, and red primroses, and a candle–because the kids are sick again and I kind of want to just crawl into bed and stay there until life gets easier. But life doesn’t get easier unless you work for it. So we’re focused on turning trials into motivation over here today.
It’s really too easy to want to throw a pity party when it seems like everything is falling apart, but the truth of the matter is that all of life is full of challenges. The stress and adverse circumstances are what help us to develop into stronger, wiser, more resilient people. It seems like we’re treading water right now, but we’re working hard and we will get there!
Instead of being upset over unforeseen sickness, a frustrating job search, and pinching an already pinched budget, I’m going to focus on what I can do today to make it better. I’m going to choose to be motivated, smile at my pretty red flowers, and make a to-do list. I’m going to revel in my books and the fun, creative things I can do. I’m going to enjoy the simple pleasure of watching my kids play together. My kitchen is clean, my tea water is hot: the world is in my hand basket!
How about you? What do you do when life’s got you down?
