Homemaker Monday 01-19-2015
Trying to get back to a somewhat regular posting schedule, and figure what better way to do that than with a blog link up?! Today I’m linking up to Homemaker Monday over at Diary of A Stay at Home Mom.
The weather outside is: Cloudy but kind of warm. Honestly, today was a nice change from the Seattle-area norm of rain, rain, rain, cold, and more rain. Lately I feel like the weather is really getting to me–it’s so nasty outside all the time, that we always stay in or just go from the house to the store. Yesterday and today were great though. Slightly warmer temperatures and no rain meant that we got outside for a bit. It was fantastic!
On the breakfast plate this morning: Greek Yogurt. Now that we’re through the holidays and my superman’s holiday stand down is over, I’m going to be getting serious about making happy, healthy food choices during the week.
Looking out the window: Completely cloud covered, at least as far as I can see out the window, but the sun must be shining as it sets in the west, because the sky is illuminated with a mustard glow.
Right now I am: Working on blog posts while my K-man naps across my lap. It’s almost time to finish up and get dinner going though.
Looking around the house: We cleaned just yesterday, but it’s looking a bit cluttered. I have a lot of laundry to fold, the floor needs vacuumed, and the kitchen needs a bit of a clean up. Not too bad though. It feels cozily rumpled right now.
Today’s To-do List: Well, the day is mostly over, but I didn’t have a whole lot to do. My man had the day off, so we had a fun morning running around to drop stuff off at goodwill and hitting up Barnes and Noble. I do still need to make dinner, and I’ll try to get the laundry folded tonight so that we can get a running start to the week tomorrow.
Currently Reading:
Ruins by Orson Scott Card
Management Accounting
The Kitchen Ecosystem
On the TV:
We started watching Sherlock Holmes last night and really liked it, so we’ll probably watch some more of that tonight. Nothing else specific.
On the Menu this week:
Oriental Chicken over Kale salad
Broccoli Soup
Pizza
Stuffed Cabbage Rolls
Sweet Potato Hash
What I am Creating at the moment:
Still working on my novels. I’ve been plugging away at the historical novel I started on in November 2013, trying to finish up this pesky ending. I’m SOOOO close I can taste it, just not quite there yet. Maybe this week. Also still continuing to make headway on my 2014 novel-in-progress.
New Recipe to Try:
I’m wanting to try some chickpea cake recipes this week. I have a bunch of canned chickpeas that I bought without knowing that it is the one kind of bean my husband really dislikes. Hoping I can find some way to use them in a less-offensive possibly-edible way 🙂
Goals for the Week:
This week I really want to focus on getting back to a good schedule. I need to balance the housework, writing, studying, playing music, and keeping the kids engaged in active fun—while not going stir crazy in the rainy throes of winter. For me, this means I’m going to be getting back to a schedule. I love me a good, detailed schedule…
Quote of the week:
With my soul have I desired thee in the night; yea, with my spirit within me will I seek thee early: for when thy judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness. Isaiah 26:9

Cozily rumpled – I love it! I’m a Navy spouse in the Seattle-area too. Have a great week.
Which Sherlock Holmes are you watching? The movie or the television series? I really enjoyed both. I keep thinking I should read some of the books someday. Hope you have a wonderful week!
We’re watching the series right now. I’ve read some of the books, but haven’t seen the movie. I’ll have to look up the movie now. My husbabd said it was good too!
Oh, stuffed cabbage rolls…I would love to learn how to make those! My aunt used to make them for us years ago.
I’vw never made them before, but I found a recipe on pinterest that looked good! If they turn out yummy I’ll share it!
